Yahoo, with a “we’ve lost our friggin’ minds” attitude, decided to raise their domain renewal rates to a whopping $34.95 per domain name.
Can you say ouch?
Keep in mind these are for renewals. So these are domain name customers that bought their domain for less than ten bucks. Many of them on an auto renew situation, that will renew at almost a 350% price increase.
Has management at Yahoo lost their minds? Between blowing the Microsoft takeover and now this, you make the call.
One cool thing about this is that many other domain registrars are using this super gouge to capitalize on. You can renew a domain at Godaddy right now for less than seven bucks, and that includes the transfer and one year of registration. Nope, I’m not a Godaddy affiliate, just a loyal customer.
I can tell you this. There are a ton of people that are going to scream like bloody murder when they see their credit card statements and the bill for their domain renewal at Yahoo.
By the way, you don’t have to wait until your domain name is expiring to move them. If you want to move a domain, just pop on over to GoDaddy and start the process. If you have trouble, you can call their 24 hour customer service.
